Breakfast at The Fat Hen – Seattle

What do you do when you wake up to freezing temperatures and you’re not from the area? Go get some hot breakfast to warm you up! Well, that’s what I did at least. I arrived the day before to Seattle for a short vacation. Before my friend and I drove to Olympic National Park for the day, we went to the Fat Hen to grab a quick breakfast.

Located in the northern part of Seattle called Ballard, it’s a small shop that had seating for about 25 people. We got there at the right time, as a line formed as soon as we sat down at the bar.

We were handed a menu, and my friend and I quickly ordered some coffee and the eggs benedict. I had mine with the salmon and avocados, while he opted just for the avocados.

Food did not take long to come out, since we both got similar items. The salmon was fresh, eggs were nicely done, and avocados were perfectly ripe. Served with a side of hot, lightly salted potatoes, this dish warmed my body up for the morning.

Other well-known and recommended item were the baked eggs. For this dish, the eggs are served in a pan where the eggs are baked in the dish with toppings of your choice. Probably will have to come back in the future to try those!
