Today, we will venture into a different, older side of Houston – the Heights! A friend suggested this spot that sells top-notch kosher dogs. Once I saw the name, I knew I had to try it.
Welcome to Happy Fatz, a small shop located on White Oak boulevard in the Heights area. On the menu, they not only offer just their specialty hot dogs, but also homemade desserts, breakfast, and salad items. I opted to try mainly the hot dog options this time.
Lo’ and behold the following delicious dogs:
First is the chili cheese dog – a nice kosher dog between huge toasts, smothered in chili cheese, onions, and frito chips. Next up is the bayou city boss – loaded with beef brisket and cheese on top of a kosher dog in a regular bun. Finally, we have the lotus blossom – a healthier option of a hot dog topped with greens and cabbage, nestled nicely within a delicious jalapeno bread.
I came back on two separate occasions to try their hot dogs, and there are plenty more on the menu I want to try! If you’re in the area, hit up this joint on White Oak.
